There are still living victims of the Holocaust. Top that a large group of folks have at least verbally committed to "finishing the job" Hitler started.
Same can be said about slavery and they effects of slavery such as Jim Crowe.
Like my parents were born right before integration. Like my grandparents got beat for sitting at a counter in a diner. My grandma had a brother who was killed by the klan. So you can't tell me that slavery and its offspring plays no part in America today.

I'm saying their great-great-grandchildren should get over it - in an era where there has been so much progress - why dwell on the (frankly) minor frayed edges? We live in an era of a black U.S. President, black CEOs, black billionaires, black Supreme Court justices - prominent blacks at every level of every industry.
Today Wells Fargo issued a statement that they are going to commit $50 million or Billion (I can't remember which.) to promote black home ownership due to complaint about unfair mortgage practices as of recent. That tells you that still to day blacks are routinely denied home ownership. So how much progress have we made?

Not really. But to the people of New Orleans when the statues were erected, these people were the heroes not the enemies. Obviously the majority of the population of the city disagrees now.
You are correct. I agree with everything in that statement.
Like I said I don't care now I am more concern with the millions of other issues plaguing New Orleans. Statues should be on the back burner. Corruption, education, and the roads/infrastructure. should be top priority.

One of the more interesting places I've been to was a communist park outside of Budapest. After the fall of communism, they took all the communism related statues in the city and put them into one park away from the center. You can go look at huge communist statues of Lenin and communist workers, it's pretty interesting.
That is a way I guess of not celebrating but also not forgetting the past.

What's your take on Swanga's?
Hit up MLK on a Sunday, then stop at Timmy Chans for a 6-piece wing dinner.
ETA: Timmy Chans is cash-only.

I tried to avoid it. Strong Safety and some others went at it in this thread. I avoided it like the plague.

White folks and Black folks
Of all my interaction with whites this may have came up like 3 times. And every time it was more of an empathetic conversation.

Just depends on what sparked the conversation. You have some people who is like "man don't come talking that black power slave shite today round me" I mean sometimes you just don't want to hear it. One time my wife wanted to watch Rosewood which is based on a true story and provokes rage in a lot of black people. I told her I ain't in the mood to watch that shite because early that day at work I had to check a baw at work who made the comment to me that a certain restaurant doesn't take food stamps. I went into the maintenance shop while he was there alone and let him know how I didn't like that comment. (In a very threatening way) He is a small guy like 5' 6" one hundred something pounds I would have man handled his arse in there. Now this story will out who I am to the people I work with cause this was a big deal at my job. He claimed I planned on beating him to a pulp in there and he was scared for his life.

I worked in a place during high school and off seasons college where I was the only white guy among about 80-100 mostly black guys and a few black women(barber college, hence a few of my hair questions

The worst part about it he said it with a straight face no joking at all. A lot maintenance guys didn't accept me as an engineer when I first was hired. Which now I know that a part of it is they believe all the engineers are stupid. Its like you have to prove yourself to them. But that passive aggressive **** hated me cause he believe I was less than he was.
