Booooo.

Change of question then - what is something you've done that you'd admit to the OT but would deny it if one of your friends asked you about it?

Similar to you asking why it matters, I ask you why does it matter how I express such a priority? My opinion is not an insult to any other group, and I really think that other people take it that way. It is an opinion based on pride....a sin that I am sure will be my undoing.

I don't blame people who don't agree with interracial relationships. Racial preservation is a survival tactic. Can't blame someone who wants to preserve their race.

I wasn't taking it as an insult, sorry if it came off that way. Basically where I come down on it is if you find someone who happens to match your skin tone, awesome. If not, awesome. The problem for me comes when folks use it as a litmus test one way or another.

I think it's a silly thing to get hung up on, no matter where it's coming from (I actually got more pushback from my black extended family over my dating/marrying a white girl than from my eventual in-laws).

t is an opinion based on pride.

I guess the bottom line (for me), is that if you derive your pride from the color of your skin or the skin tone of your family and said pride would be diminished if in a monochromatic or IR relationship, said pride may be a little misplaced.

In many communities (white, black, Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Asian) you see such decisions made along cultural similarities. I don't think that is a bad thing, and I don't think that one should be looked down upon for utilizing such a parameter.

That like....my opinion, man.

I'll chime in here if you don't mind - I think there is an important distinction to make between dating/marrying someone because they have the same values and experiences as you, and simply marrying someone because they're the same race.

All of the above....I'm not picky at all when it comes to music. Rap, country (old school and new school), R&B, Christian, Dubstep, Chillstep, Classical, etc--whatever gets my toe tappin'.

Road trips with Tbird's music on random shuffle will eventually piss off everyone in the car

Yeah my last response was getting a little long-winded, but that was the other part of what I was going to say. Cultural similarities do not necessarily mean racial/skin tone equivalency. For example, folks think my wife and I must come from drastically different backgrounds, but other than the skin tone difference, she and I had basically the same upbringing. Conservative, nuclear family, middle class suburban lifestyle. Gotta be careful equating "culture" with "ethnicity."

I'm 55,but played Bball back in the day.I touched 11'1" on the side goal where they had it marked. But I'm 6'4" so it's really not that much of a vertical.Under 30".

Hey Tbird.

I don't think I could touch the bottom of the net.

1) Do you ever get irritated when someone, usually radically leftist, claims to speak for ALL black people like they are monolithic? One of the best things about being white is nobody tries to get away with speaking for all of us.

What I hate most is how black celebrities are put out there to speak for the black community. Like WTF who named Steve Harvey MLk. Why is he meeting with Trump? No other race use athletes and celebrities as their spoke people.

quote:

2) Do you ever laugh uproariously at gullible hyper guilty white liberals?

Give me an example. I don't want whites to feel guilty about anything. Your guilt won't help repair the black diaspora. I rather meaningful conversation and solutions to fix issues in the black community.

3) Do black folks like Cheddars as much as they seem to and if yes, why? I can find common ground on this one!

We don't have Cheddars where I lived in Louisiana but when I did research at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Lawd Cheddars was king. I would drive all the way to Smyrna to get some fricking cheddars. That spaganza was clutch and there is not a better tasting chicken tender on God's green Earth than at Cheddars.

Tbird and LSUSH, in your opinion, why is it that sprite is marketed more towards the urban community? Never made sense to me, it's just a frickin drink

This is so true, goddammit. I hate the thought of anyone purporting to speak for me--I'm a grown arse man and I'll make up my own mind about shite, don't think you represent my interests just because you're famous and have high melanin levels
