Think of it this way this country earn its prosperity off the labor of blacks...
Gotta disagree here. Slavery is a horrible economic system. The North prospered much more than the South, in large part, because of this. Our country was prosperous in spite of, not because of slavery.

Good times.

I got in a little bit of trouble when I was a kid and spent some time in the Montgomery juvie. The guards would put all the white kids on one team, they called us the European team, and sent us out to get slaughtered at football and basketball every day.

My junior high was "integrated" between my 7th and 8th grade year. Talk about "Day 1" improvement to the football, basketball and track teams. Coaches looked like miracle workers.

Exactly. Not to mention, we are talking about business owners who felt the need to have free labor. What if a company... Let's say.. like walmart found a way to get free labor and all of a sudden decided to get rid of their workers and replace them with free labor. That would have a huge impact on our economy.

I've noticed that when black women are driving slowly in the left lane, and I flash my lights for them to move over to the right, they seem to take it extremely personally. Any thoughts on this?
Driving slow in the left lane should be punishable by death.

Slave labor wasn't "free" though. Slavery was expensive and tended to concentrate among the wealthier planter class.
Slavery wasn't "evil" because slaves weren't paid for their labor. Slavery was "evil" because human beings were confined, families were split up, they were subjected to every...single...inhumanity that one can imagine by their owners and others. We use color as a index for the genetic descendants of these systems, because it's easy and "mostly" true from a factual standpoint, but it's also very lazy and misleading. Blacks also owned slaves in the Antebellum U.S. And certain groups (Chinese railroad workers, poor Irish Catholic indentured servants, others) were treated nearly as badly at times(not the overall system of course), but tended to get past the worst of it quite quickly. After slavery formally ended, blacks had to endure another 100 years of legal, formalized discrimination.
Now, I'm big on the "bootstrap" theory, because I believe that 1 generation is all that is required to get most folks to solidly in the middle of the middle class (1 generation of making mostly good decisions), but I also can't pretend the XIIIth Amendment was the equivalent of kissing it and making it better. The world just doesn't work like that.
