Artificial Grass on Rooftop?

I recently moved into a townhome and we have an awesome fourth-floor private rooftop overlooking the Dallas skyline. The problem is that half of the roof is ugly exposed concrete that is basically impossible to walk barefoot on due to getting crazy hot and just not being comfortable to put bare feet on.

I was thinking of going to Home Depot/Lowe's and picking up some artificial grass and cutting it to fill in this gap.

Any problems with doing this? From what I have read, most of this grass is pretty permeable and I would probably use a strong outdoor tape with gaps on the perimeter to allow for water to drain (don't really want to use an adhesive since we are renting the place and will ultimately have to remove it when we move out).

Anything I need to know before trying this?

Check with owner of townhouse??

Check fire rating of product??

Will it adversely effect the roof??

Have you considered flip flops or slippers??

It'll be tough getting a mower up there.

what part of town are you in? we looked at a few places with rooftop decks in oaklawn but chose a townhome without it. we figured we'd probably wouldnt use it that much

Why would you ask a message board and not your landlord?

My landlord doesn't care what we do as long as we return it back to original shape when we end the lease.
