But yea, I tried it. I was always told that my Great-Grandfather came through Ellis Island as a child. That wasn't at all true. He was born here and died here, but he was raised in an orphanage. I was also told that his family came over from Ireland, which wasn't true (at least not in the three generations before him). His last name was Franklin, so the Irish part would have made sense. Turns out though... his great something grandpa was a Choctaw Indian and was adopted by Samuel Franklin, the half-brother of Benjamin Franklin. I can't claim that Bennie is my ancestor, but I can claim that he might have known my Indian ancestor
