Sounds like fairly classic bells.
You should do great.
If you can't blink, use artificial tears and tape ur eye at night.
Best wishes.

Think an in-law recently developed symptoms while flying his plane. Pretty scary for his immediate family.

Haven't even thought about how this is going to affect my photography.

It sucked. Had to tape my eye shut at night. Lasted about 3 weeks.

I had bp about 10 years ago. It lasted about 6 months. I felt like it was the end if the world. I also thought I had a stroke. But the doctor was quick to say it wasn't. I did the steroid shot treatment and also excercise therapy on my own. From what I gathered it could have been three things. I would say stress played a lot. Cause I just been laid off then BP kicked in soon after. Or maybe I was playing with my girlfriend at the time and she accidentally slapped my left side of my face. Lastly I did have the ceiling fan on high speed.

I've had it twice on opposite sides of the face.... Do anything you can to make it better,... Doctor, chiropractor, voodoo medicine etc... I wouldn't.wish it on anyone !

I've got an uncle that had it. Kept him out of West Point.
Also have a cousin from the opposite side that had it.

On a serious note, I researched and literally tried anything. Mind over matter help me mentally the second time. The social paranoia is worse than anything. I became a hermit for about 3 weeks.

Had it 6 or so years ago. Got lucky. Friend had it and when I first started getting the symptoms I told her about it. Made me get to the clinic immediately. Got some prednisone in me. I got it but it could have been worse. Face started to sag on one side. Also one thing that was weird, tastes changed cuz some of the taste buds on one side of the tongue quit working. Some sweet stuff became sour. My mouth would suddenly get tired and my speech would start slurring, I'd sound more like a stroke victim. It lasted several weeks.
Massage therapy helped some. A good massage therapist can work those facial muscles and stimulate them. That helps alot. Seriously.

My brother had it for a few weeks I gave that poor bastard hell.
Watching him drink out of a straw is still pretty much the funniest thing I've ever seen

Bell's Palsy is why Stallone looks/sounds like he does. Doesn't help you but thought I'd share some useless trivia

That's one of the most freaky things about this.
The most freaky thing is water leaking into my right eye when I'm taking a shower. The ability to seal your eyelids watertight is highly underrated.
eta: Thanks for all the information and advice!

Funny you should mention that.
The night before this happened, I was grilling some steaks and made a joke to a relative about "makin' da meat" (if you remember Rocky telling Adrian to "yo, make da meat").

Had mine for 3 months. Returned to about 80% normal. Had to use eye drops for a few years.

Mine lasted a month. It is caused from inflammation of the 7th facial nerve. Took prednisone. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Where did you get this from?

quote:I had it back in my 20s. Didn't think it would ever end. Started getting better sometime along the 3rd week. Still had some numbness for a couple months more, but speech improved from Quasimodo level.
One week later--No Change.

Not to scare you, but now that I'm old(er) I notice one side of my face has aged differently than the other. Not a lot, but it has. Other than that, no residual effects that I'm aware of.
Hang in there. I know it sucks, but it'll get better.
edit spelling

Well, I'm already "aged", so no worries there

And I wish I could speak as well as Quasimodo now...
