Anybody get their tonsils taken out as an adult?

I'm 21, which is considered late to get them taken out. I've gotten strep 4 times since December, and my regular Dr is reffering me to an ENT specialist. I've always been prone to strep, and my tonsils are always massive.
I'm curious about y'all's experience with post op recovery. It sounds like it blows.

Recovery is awful, but in the long run you'll be happy to see them gone.

Got mine out at age 30 a few months ago. My recovery couldn't have been easier. Apparently I'm the exception. Was back to solid foods after 3 days, and I ate tortilla chips less than a week post op.

Yes. And I was in my 40's. I also got deviated septum surgery at the same time so it was a double wammy. The pain and recovery was absolutely miserable for approximately 1 week. The tonsils more than the deviated septum. After that, I was good but that 1st week is bad. But I'm very glad I did the surgery. Well worth it.

Quit sucking the BBC and you won't be getting so many throat infections. Problem solved.

I got mine taken out when I was very young. An ex of mine several years ago (mid 20's) got hers taken out while we were dating. She was miserable for a week or two. In the long run though it helped her out a whole lot. Before, she had pretty much chronic bronchitis.
