Thanks for the links.

Have you used any of these personally? The reviews are pretty mixed.

Our exterminator told us there is something you can put in the dogs food or water to make their urine less acidic. We haven't tried, we just deal with the dead spots in the back yard. He doesn't go in the front

Okay, after reading the suggestions from other posters, I read methods of paying money for meds to reduce the acidity of its piss to making it piss in a designated gravel area all for the sake of saving grass. The real answer is you don't want a dog.

other dogs are probably peeing there too - your dogs may just be covering up their scent - marking their territory

We take ours out with an old laundry detergent bottle filled with water and use it to dilute where they pee. You could use a hose of course, but this was easier. It has done wonders for our yard.

Dog urine is high in nitrogen. To nuetralize it, pour either tomato juice, molasses, even beer or coke. Also, reducing the protein content in the dogs diet and/ or there are some supplements you can give them....dr fosters makes some. And the fertilizer you add to your lawn probably has a high nitrogen content. try not fertilizing their pee area or adding only a phosphorus and potassium fertilizer with no or low nitrogen.

Op is talking about amonia burns. My dog does the same shite. Don't let him pee in the same spot. Walk him around the yard and let him out more often.

I thought you were talking about other dogs getting the run of your yard?
I would put together a mixture of ant poison and red pepper and spread it along the yard next to the road and my neighbor's yards. Any dog that came around sniffing that shite was in for a rude awakening.

My neighbors dog eas killing grass everywhere he pissed. Found out his PH balance, or something, was off. He changed his diet and it solved the problem. Ask your vet.
