I guess it depends on your definition of life support... Most usually associate the ventilator as life support, which you must be on to donate organs.

I will not donate
How can you be a nurse and NOT be an organ donor?
Especially when you see first hand the impact organ donation can have for others. And you know how many people are waiting on the organ list, praying and hoping that a match will come up to save their life.
I'm an organ donor. Take what you need to impact as many people living after I'm dead. I won't need it and it will bring some comfort to my loved ones to know my organs may have saved another's life.

I have been heavily involved in donation. I have been in multiple harvests and have prepped pts the 24-48 hours it can take for the best outcomes. For me it's not the right decision. I have very deep issues with many of the regs, rule outs and dissemination of organs. I don't discourage others...but until you have hammered a dowel into a leg of a person that you are still providing support for please don't judge me.
