Medicare can be done successfully on the side. It’s a required product, so it’s persistency is a lot better than life, and there are tens of thousands of new prospects aging into Medicare every year. Most agents are part time/seasonal or at least started part time until their renewals could replace their income. I’ve always been a full time agent but I wish I had started working Medicare on the side when I worked in banking.

I do about 300 policies a year full time and it took me 5 years to get to that point. But I think doing 25-50 a year part time is doable. Renewals are around $320 per policy. So that should tell you how long you’d have to replace your income while building semi passive income.

a lot of folks in our company do it seasonally. I work hard Sept through Dec. The rest of the year, I still write business, but I cannot honestly say that I'm working hard. It's a nice job if you want flexibility. But it doesn't happen overnight.

I’m busy year round as I focus on the T65 market. Of course AEP is busier but I do about 20 apps a month during lock-in.

I’ll cross 1,000 next year. I may semi retire after next year and just work referrals and AEP.

I worked for a shady finance company. We'd sell life insurance policies with the loans. They weren't required, but we'd tell the customer if they wanted the loan they had to take the life insurance too. They were really in a position to argue with us about it.
