Any government workers in here buy back your military time?

And if so, how did that work? Looks like I might be getting das boot at around my 18 yr mark due to some health complications (RA) and I'd be interested in a government job in order to get the retirement that was nearly due to me otherwise.

Do you want to get out? If not, try appealing the decision... could possibly waste 2 years doing an appeal and hit your 20.

I know a few guys who did it in Federal LEO jobs. The time is tacked on the back end of your career. To retire, you may st have worked 20 years and becage 50. If you buy back military time, it is added to your retirement. It doesn't substitute for those 20 years.

My dad served in the 70s, then got the boot, and put in 30 years with the army. Not sure if that helps. Sorry bout the RA.

With 18 years in, you'd think they would medically retire you instead of giving you the boot. Any chance of that happening?

Possible. I have to be at least 30% disabled.
