I heard they were in need of people to walk horses who were starting to stock up in stables. Any truth to this? I know I can call, just wondering.

They are no longer taking livestock donations of any kind (feed, etc).

All volunteers need to email LSART. Not taking random volunteers any longer due to safety reasons. See LSART

I know there are TONS of animals, and not enough vets to take care of them. I acquired a new cur/hound puppy that was there yesterday.

I've also lined up another adoption and a foster. Have family connections at AP Animal Hospital, so it's coordinated through them..

My wife and I wanted to donate some time there this weekend so she contacted them and got this response
quote:

At this time, we do not need volunteers at Lamar Dixon this weekend but this could change. I will put your information into a list that we are sending out to shelters. They will contact you if you are needed. We have several teams currently deployed to aid shelters and clinics that are underwater and at this time we are over capacity for volunteers. We do not currently need any supplies.

What we do need is funds for future use to rescue animals, restock supplies and to help to the students, faculty and staff reastablish their properties and belongings. Gift cards would be the most helpful. Any cards from Lowe's, Home depot, Amazon, Target, Petco, Petsmart, Walmart or any other large retailer would be most appreciated.

They can be emailed to malittlefield@lsu.edu or sent to: M. A. Littlefield, DVM, MS, CVA Assistant Clinical Professor of Anatomy Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences Louisiana State University
