The glove has patent number(s) on it USD140859 a google search resulted in a patent for it filed Feb 8, 1945 by Archibald J. Turner for Wilson Athletic Goods Mfg. There’s a sketch in the patent as well looks identical to your glove.
I see “Patents-D-14-859.
That’s short for “USD?”
Thanks for the info. I’m gonna go search.

An item like this speaks to how great the game of baseball was back in it's Golden Age.
I'm still a huge fan. But 99% of players today couldn't actually use that glove in the field of play. Not fundamentally sound enough.
It's not really their fault. The game evolved and the later gloves just made things easier.

I’m definitely learning. Until a few years ago I was never into baseball. It was too slow for my taste. I did not appreciate the fact it’s a “thinking” game. I have an absolute respect and appreciation for the game now.

Interesting little tidbit: gloves like this used to be left on the field between innings. Players only started bringing their gloves into the dugout with them in 1954, due to a rules change.

Found one exactly like it on eBay.
Wilson Ball Hawk
After a little looking found that the actual model may be a Wilson A2145 Ball Hawk.

I think it was a safety issue.

another interesting tidbit, back in the day if you hit a pop fly and could reach first before it was caught you were not out

Thanks for the effort of looking. However, the stitching on the webbing is different.
