Worse to put change of any kind on the table or worse to leave dollar bills that leave server with a bunch of change if they are keeping a register that accurate?
what kind of question is this?

which is better? more money or less money?

If someone is bringing me food or cleaning up my trash, I tip $1 per person in my party. Typically they need the money more than I do and at max this is about $25 a year for me at these places.

I feel good about myself when I do and that is worth $1 alone.

Honest one.

Round up to a dollar but change is left on table. Or put down only bills and server is left with 96 cents?

I'm always the decent tipper. Not extravagant but I eat quietly and have a couple beers.

What about tipping on a pizza you go pick up carryout? A few times, I've come into contact with folks who think they deserve a tip for handing me my pizza at the counter. Nerp.

Tee-hee.

Good to decent service is a given. I have left a dime once before. Or I close out after a beer and before food meaning no tip is needed
