Another camera ticket thread

A few weeks ago I got a camera ticket in the mail from Opelousas. At first I was like frick them I’m not paying. But apparently though, Opelousas is very aggressive at collecting and is threatening me with suspending my registration and license if I don’t pay by tomorrow, amongst a bunch of other retarded shite.
How serious should I take these clowns? Do they really have a leg to stand on?
Bonus material. Today I got a text from a Philippine number reminding me that the ticket is due by tomorrow and even included a handy dandy link I could copy and paste in my browser to pay

Why are people still asking the same question? Answer: “I never received anything in the mail”

"If you didnt give me a court date to fight the ticket why would I pay it?"

KTLA answered your question in an article
quote:
Attorney Jake Bailey breaks down exactly what you’re looking at when these civil notices arrive in your mailbox….
…. “When a police officer gives you a ticket, you can face a warrant, fines, or jail time if you don’t pay or appear in court,” Bailey said. “But these photo-generated notices are handled through civil law and carry no such penalties.……
…… Do You Have to Pay the Ticket?
This is the question on everyone’s mind. According to Bailey, the short answer is no—not in the same way you’re legally bound to pay a traditional ticket.
“They can’t suspend your license. They can’t put a mark on your driving record. They can’t report it to credit bureaus. And they can’t arrest you,” he explains.
The only way a civil fine from these cameras could be collected is if the private company sues you in court—which, according to Bailey, is rare and unlikely due to the cost of litigation versus the ticket amount.

What about toll camera tickets sent from a legit place? Sunpass, FDOT, etc...

Toll tickets would be handled by the state and they probably play under a different set of rules. Not sure.

I travel a decent bit for work and gotten one in probably a dozen little small towns including Opelousas. I have never paid a single one. They cannot do anything to you for not paying
