It sounds like she thinks speed limits end if you make a stop at a store from the time you last saw a sign and then begin to drive again.

Her defense was "was there a sign between here and the gas station?" I'm sure she saw a sign before the gas station, unless this station was at an intersection or exit ramp or something.

Ridiculous defense.
