an "affiliate" for a "hot" new upcoming sports app

A dude I know says he has hit the jackpot and will never have to work again when this new sports app United Games comes out next month. Thinks he is gonna make millions because he paid $29.99 to become an "affiliate" and has signed a bunch of people up.
Is there any warrant to this? It's all he ever talks about now. Anybody know anything about this?

It's a pyramid scheme. A guy I know at work asked if I wanted to play. Said I'll just need your full name, email address, and phone number to sign you up.
