This. And in smaller towns, there are still a lot of mom and pop full service restaurants come very close in price while destroying McDonald's in quality.
McDonald's generally charges the same for a Big Mac in small towns as it does in larger cities. And smaller towns feature lower real estate prices, lower labor costs, etc. So smaller, indy alternatives have an even better shot at competing especially now that McDonald's has hiked their prices.

Went to Taco Bell recently for the first time in a couple years (there isn't one in my hood anymore), and was a bit surprised.

Spent what I would for a combo dinner at a nice and clean sitdown Mexican restaurant.
