Melt. The northern suburbs(especially northern Cherokee and Northern Forsyth Counties) and far western burbs(Carrollton) are absolutely beautiful.

Atlanta is widely known as one of America’s worst shite holes. You couldn’t pay me to live there
You’re comparing apples to oranges. My family and I recently relocated to Bartow County which is NW of Atlanta and we absolutely love it here so far.. A lot of companies are investing in new facilities for manufacturing and distribution (including my company which is why we moved) are attracting young family and professionals. There are tons of things to do with kids and we aren’t far from the mountains either. You couldn’t pay me to live in Atlanta proper either but you also couldn’t pay me to move back to Louisiana

Where do they draw the line in what is considered “metro”
Daphne, Spanish fort, fairhope is 20 miles from mobile but they separate it.
Slidell is 5 miles from Nola and they separate it.

None of the cities on the Northshore would even exist if not for NOLA.
They were there way before NOLA suburbs expanded across the lake…

Canton is 40 miles from Atlanta and it’s considered to be in the metro area

Charleston is on a much better trajectory than New Orleans.

Baton Rouge, Hammond, NOLA, and the Northshore should be one single MSA of 2.5 million.
On one hand I kind of wish they keep growing into each other.
On the other, it's probably best from a hurricane/flooding/storm surge resilience perspective for the Baton Rouge and Hammond areas to sprawl northward, not east/west or south.

That's been obvious for decades. It's a beautiful, historic port city with a massive tourism/hospitality industry.
Most of the major HQ's that were in New Orleans 40 years ago have since moved to Houston or have been acquired by an out of state company....and then moved to Houston. Even Avondale is mostly abandoned now.

From New Orleans East, it’s just over a bridge
