Multiple studies have shown that "speeding" relative to the rest of traffic isn't inherently dangerous. Lane changing is actually more dangerous than speeding. It's more dangerous for drivers to use the far left lane to cruise because it causes other drivers to switch lanes to overtake them.

The reason we don't see an Armageddon level of carnage on the Autobahn (particularly the stretches with no speed limit) is because the far left lane is used strictly as a passing lane.

I'm not worried about speeders. I'm more concerned with drivers who don't understand the basic principles of the road.
