She skipped out on "being a star" to join the airforce and joined the choir. Auto promoted to tech Sargent. Nice....

She should have gone to med school instead and been auto promoted to Captain.

I think it's great that more young people are joining the military, or even the Air Force, instead of going straight to college. She'll learn some valuable skills and probably get to travel the world as a singer.

Or just graduated med school and made money as a civilian

Yea that's cool, but she needs to do her time to make rank.

Yea, but that's just a different world.
I remember checking into the Osan Air Base hotel while TDY, and found out the uniformed airman that was checking us in was an MOS in the USAF.
A hotel desk clerk MOS...
I guess the bottom line is E-6 doesn't mean the same as it does in the Army or Navy.

Nah, I'm happy to stay e5 for life

Jealousy is not a good look on you.

How in the world? Blows my mind in a time of downsizing we still spend money/allocate active duty folks to these programs.

Ronald Reagan enlisted as a private in April of 1937 and was promoted to 2nd lieutenant just a month later.

Nope, not as pretty either. She was in Qatar while I was, got to meet her there.

every service does this with the bands. you automatically get promoted to e6 once you report to the band.

Reagan was ordered to active duty for the first time on April 18, 1942. Due to his nearsightedness, he was classified for limited service only, which excluded him from serving overseas.[36
Deservedly so

You don't sound very motivated. I wouldn't be happy with anything less than E7 in any MOS I'm familiar with if I'd have stayed for 20+.
I have many family members and some friends that went 20+ and all came out E7+ or O4+.
