AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite Thread: CM Punk Go Home Edition

Did Adam Cole clue us into what his decision on his future in wrestling will be? He told his Twitch community a few days ago that there's no way he'll ever give up his stream. That... of course... would fly in the face of WWE's 'all your streams belong to us' edict from a number of months back (and Zelina Vega got fired over). So that could lead you to believe that Cole is down to either staying in NXT (where no streaming edict exists) or elsewhere in the wrestling world (AEW).
The City of Chicago has instituted a new mask mandate... regardless of vaccination status... starting on Friday. You know... the same Friday as AEW's Rampage: The First Dance show at the United Center.
The story behind Saturday's AAA Mega Championship match between Kenny Omega & Andrade El Idolo just keeps getting more interesting. So let's do this point-by-point
- AAA originally wanted Andrade to win the title from Omega at Triplemania.
- After having to do the IMPACT Championship switch to Christian Cage on Rampage... thanks in part to the All Out main event change due to "Hangman" Page needing time off for the birth of his first child... AEW used its booking power over Omega to ask AAA to not have Omega lose 2 nights in a row. A request AAA approved.
-When Omega arrived to the building for the show and saw Ric Flair there, heard Flair was going to be at ringside, and heard he (Omega) was winning... he immediately asked Khan to reconsider and go back to Andrade winning with Flair helping cost Omega the title.
- Tony Khan agreed with and approved Omega's plan to drop the AAA Mega Championship thanks to Flair's interference... but AAA came back and said 'no... we're sticking with you keeping the belt'. Enter AAA's version of nWo Nick Patrick who helped Omega retain instead.
WWE saw the success of the MLB 'Field of Dreams' game and thought... hey let's do that. So reported ideas for Monday Night Raw in this vein... Raw on the Roof or more festival shows (like Rolling Loud from Smackdown a few weeks ago). Why not just bring back WCW Hog/Road Wild from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally... or the Spring Break Out episode of Nitro that annually came from Club La Vela in Pensacola... or Bash at the Beach when everything happened literally at the beach (yes a couple of those PPVs did actually happen on the beach and not just at an arena in a summer beach destination city).
Tonight's AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite episode comes from the Fertitta Center on the campus of the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.
After they accidentally played a role in Kenny Omega losing the combined IMPACT World Championship/TNA World Heavyweight Championship on Friday... the Young Bucks must now defend their own title as the AEW World Tag Team Championship will be defended against Jurassic Express's Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus.
The 5th & Final Labour of Jericho is tonight as Chris Jericho battles MJF where Jericho can't use anything "Judas" related... meaning no Judas entrance theme and no Judas Effect finishing move.
In more Pinnacle vs. Inner Circle action... Sammy Guevara battles "the chairman of AEW" Shawn Spears. Also... Sammy has some kind of announcement to make (helping another jobber sign a contract?)
Darby Allin & Sting team up against 2.0 (the former Ever Rise in NXT) in a Texas Tornado Tag Match (no tags necessary... all 4 men are legal at the same time)
FTW Champion & NOLA's own "Absolute" Ricky Starks goes face-to-face with his former Team Taz stable mate "The Machine" Brian Cage
Thunder Rosa gets to murder Penelope Ford
Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. gets to murder a nobody jobber
Dan Lambert of America's Top Team has decided he will make an appearance tonight... potentially with some "back up" to help him.
Enjoy her before Thunder Rosa destroys her

Sting's first match in 20 years...and he faces these coked up jobbers.

Didn't Sting already have a couple AEW matches? I think this is his first one on TNT.

Cornette is going to have a field day with that one!
And now applying the scorpion deathlock to multiple opponents.

I was just going to say that. Absolutely ridiculous. 60+, goes through a table, and no sells it.

It would be the biggest troll ever for Punk not to show up in AEW.
In fact if they were smart they’d do that for his first storyline.
