I am saying that the sexual orientation of the abusers was the driving force behind it all.

So married straight men are never guilty of child abuse?

If it was simply because they are gay, why not just go have a secret relationship with another guy? Nobody gets thrown in jail for that in this country.

At worst you just lose the collar.

How many priests have you heard of who were accused of molesting young girls?
there are plenty- you should be able to search for a case or two

After reading your reply…. You seem to downplay the fact that this is a recurring issue with catholic priests.
it’s a recurring issue with people who are put in a position of power over children - priests, ministers, teachers, Boy Scout leaders, etc

I'm not downplaying anything anymore than those in these discussions that like to act like Catholic priests are the only ones that do this.

Nevermind the fact that the Boy Scouts had a massive settlement over sexual abuse issues, and I bet none of those leaders were priests.

right - the Episcopal Church, Baptists, and Assembly of God also have a history of relocating and covering up abusive ministers

Just last week that missing boy in Oklahoma that had run away - his stepfather was accused of child sexual abuse - he was married and not a priest

We don’t hear the everyday stories.

Well you would have to live in every small town in the Southern US (sometimes multiple Baptists church on the same street for example) and then make the assumption that nobody in those small towns covers anything up...or that the person who runs the Church didnt move upon accusations and then didnt tell anybody (!and neither did the community)

Like its waaaaay easier to cover up this stuff in a congregation that isnt heirarchally based like the Catholic church.

If this is the guy, he left a banking career to be a priest.

Do you have any idea how easy it would have been to read the original link and see that it is the same guy?
