Many brave young men landed at Okinawa for the first day of what would be the largest amphibious assault of the Pacific Theater. The United States, Canada, Great Britain , New Zealand and Australia all sent troops into battle. Over the course of the next 12 weeks around 70,000 troops were killed or wounded. Many of these soldiers had already participated in fierce fighting throughout the Solomon Islands, Guam , Peleliu and Iwo Jima among other locations. I know lots of you and your loved ones are hurting but remember those brave souls and what they had to face and the trials you and your loved ones are dealing with don’t seem quite so bad. If anyone has a story of a family member or friend that was involved in the fighting at Okinawa please do not hesitate to share. Stay well out there.
