Your family lost possessions. A town of 2000 lost over 5% of their population. There's a big difference.
After natural disasters Louisianans (more than some at least) go ape shite over anyone they think is making a joke of or not supporting them. One would think they would show others in a similar or worse situation the same compassion they desire.
