If it's windy, you run the risk of a snapped blade. Better to be inconvenienced by ice than totally screwed by a snapped/busted wiper blade.

Put a beach towel on the windshield and take each end and put it in your car then put the window up. Make sure it's tight. Put the wipers on top of the towel.

For just overnight no need for a beach towel, just lay it on the windshield under the wipers.
