Incorrect. Pit bulls are just more implicated in more serious injuries. Several different breeds are often involved in human aggressivity.

Driving at night is a necessity for most people. Owning a pit bull over any other breed is not

To generalize that because some people have been attacked by pit bulls that all pit bulls are ticking time bombs is to ignore the "nurture" in the nature-nuture combo.

Again, no one is claiming ALL pit bulls or even most pit bulls will attack someone. The fact is, they are much much MUCH more likely to attack a person than any other breed. So there is no good reason to choose a pit over all of the other breeds. How is that so hard to understand?

Fair enough. You forgot to address the rest of the questions, though.

Based on what data? Here is some light reading from the AMVA that might help you clear up some of these inaccuracies: LINK

I did. Clearly pit bulls are far and away the most dangerous breed

Oh, so you're not claiming that they are "much much much more likely to attack" than other breeds?

Are you really arguing over semantics? You know I'm referring to severe attacks

It's an important distinction. Now that your focus has narrowed, you can see your new point being addressed throughout the thread.

If he would have been shot that would have been big news. This.... not so much. Sad. My heart goes out to the family. I hope the dog as assumed room temperature.

Ridiculous analogy. A more appropriate one would be, "Does the increased likelihood of encountering drunk drivers prevent you from driving around, after midnight, as often as possible, on New years Eve?".

The same pit bulls were quarantined for 10 days in December of last year after they bit a 9-year-old girl and her mother as the pair walked by the Aloha Street home, police said.

The dogs allegedly dug a hole below the fence in place and made puncture wounds in the victims' skin, but the injuries did not meet the criteria under Texas law to deem the dogs dangerous, cops said.

Damn. Nice criteria Texas.

Pretty interesting facts in the link below. For starters, they test higher than 121 other breeds in temperament tests...

Which"Pitbulls" are a dangerous breed? Until there is dna testing for dog related bites and injuries, the vast majority of dog bites should not be released to the public. The vast majority of witnesses, cops even vets have zero clue what a dogs make-up is, so they incorrectly identify it as a "pitbull".

She can call them "pits" all she wants but until a dna test is done the breed is most likely to be a mutt.

In what way? Shouldn't it be of the utmost importance to actually determine the actual makeup of these dogs involved in these attacks? Or is it just easier to label it a pitbull because 99% of the general public is to stupid to understand two dogs can look alike but be two separate breeds.
