I messed up on the sonnax kit didn't realize there tooling needed. Bought it already, but I'll send it back.
Just got a new valve body for $175 shipped. (Could have gotten for $120 from Ford, but I didn't want to deal with core return)

Lots of metal in pan..
Only thing I could do is pull it
Take it apart and now the fun part figure out what went wrong.
The direct drum was seized to the planetary and when I separated it, it looked like this...
The decision to buy a $60 dead transmission for parts turned up another blown direct drum. Apparently this is very common. The needle bearing breaks and causes a chain reaction. Very common in f150s. Causes you to lose 3red gear.
At least I got the planetary out the donor.
The only truly hard part is seating these zero gap snap rings.
All parts with new clutch plates and seals and bushings set together. Then used air pressure to check each clutch pack.
.
Put everything back in the case.
Pistons back in
New valve body
Cased
The hard part, getting it back in and hooking everything up.
So far so good. Very smooth shifts. Shifts to all gears, no slipping.
Though the stall from start seems higher with this torque converter I got on Ebay.
