If he actually had a permit you cannot run permit loads at night, most cities even have curfews for certain times of the day.
Being that high he likely should have had an escort with a height pole and the permit office, if given the correct measurements, would have routed him around something like that.
Most likely this dude knew he was overheight which is why he was running at night anyway, he, and his company, be fricked.
ETA: Or maybe he didn't know, we once had a driver slam a piece of equipment into an overpass because he let the shipper load him with the wrong piece and left anyway, guy was something like 3' overheight and had no idea.

So much fail in that post.
Not saying this company and driver aren't fricked but some permits only let you run at night particularly with over height and over width loads.

It's what I do for a living, I can assure you this guy shouldn't have been on the road at that time. They're screwed.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I would actually think they would WANT these oversized loads traveling at night, less traffic to deal with.
Regardless, this guy HAD to know his load was too tall for that overpass.

Didn't another big rig accident shut down I-10 for several hours yesterday?
