uhhh I don't really see many saying Colt isn't worthy of the pick...they're saying we shouldn't pick him because we ummm sorta already have someone that is pretty good at that position...

Yes and we are an injury away from having Brunnel with his cane running our offense, not good enough.

Still Colt's got a shot, just don't think people should compare him to Drew Brees just yet

If Brees were a senior in college this year, Colt would be considered as good or better compared to Brees before he went pro. It is a comparison of Brees in teh past, not his current talent level!

Defense defense!!!! We can count on old man Brunell and sign another FA QB. Draft defense, IMHO.

I'll go a step further, if Colt would have stayed in the game against Bama and put up greeat numbers, everyone would have him ranked higher. Quit using one game to think he cannot hang.

A winner wins, wherever and whenever given a shot, and he is a winner and someone will get a GREAT man and a solid qb that could be specila with the right system.........like the Saints and learning from the best...Brees!!!!!

You might be right with everything you've written here; HOWEVER, the Saints won't, nor would any other team, spend a first round pick on a "for sure" backup.

In all of my years watching the NFL, I can't remember a team with a TOP 10 QB, who has another 6 or 7 years of production, spending a first rounder on a backup QB. The closest thing I can remember is Rogers in Green Bay, but that was only when Favre was on his "I might retire" kick and Favre was at the end of his career...at least that's what the Packers thought. I'm going out on a limb and say the Saints won't be breaking that tradition.

I think it's doubtful we would even use a pick on a backup QB, but if we did, John Skelton is the perfect option, imo.

John Skelton video

6-5, 250, cannon arm, and solid mobilty.

Playing at Fordham will drop him to a Saturday pick, but with Payton's guidance, he could turn out to be the best QB in the class when it's all said and done. Some scouts say he's greener and more underdeveloped than Flacco was, but if the Saints are looking for a cheap 3rd day young backup with tools & measurables, this guy is the only option.

McCoy has an average arm, serious durability issues and played in a gimmick system, one from which few QBs have had success in the NFL. Really no advantage over Chase Daniel.

For the Saints the future is now! Use almost all draft choices for defense. We have Brees surround him with a good defense.

I dont know if the Saints pass on McCoy at 32?

Not advocating the pick but our coach may see alot of value...

Easily.

The 32nd pick will be used to draft a starter for us, especially with DE & OLB starting positions currently open. McCoy would be a backup here for potentially the next 6 to 8 years behind Drew, barring injury.

If anything, the Saints would trade out of the position if a team wanted McCoy as a starter bad enough. But a backup player won't be the pick for the Saints at 32.

This is the only correct answer.
It's so obvious that I'm surprised some folks really believe the FO will pick up a backup QB with a first round pick...even if it is the 32nd pick.
