I'd like to know what you think describes a major college team.

Just cause you were a bandwagon nfl fan doesn't mean the rest of louisiana is.
Well there are about 3 times as many Saints fans around as there were pre-Drew Brees and Sean Payton so I'm not sure that's accurate. Harrah's used to have to buy out the dome every week to keep it from being blacked out.

Maybe for you they do, not everyone views the saints the same way you do

The University of Louisiana's baseball team is ranked and capable of winning the national title. There is two major college teams.

These people are totally incapable of seeing outside themselves. That much is clear.

quote:your statements aren't complex and hard to understand. they have nothing to do with fan loyalty however. nfl is a business yes teams can move yes an owner can be a douchebag doesn't change the fact that Louisiana has an nfl team. fans aren't worried about the business aspect of it when watching games. only faux elitists do this and use it to belittle sports fandom. when fans are watching their home team play you think they sit there and say man I can't root for this team the GM once pushed a girl down on the playground in 3rd grade.
wrong again, just because you don't understand them doesn't make them any less relevant.
the college argument holds no water because LA has numerous college sports teams.

Dash no longer exists. Sun Belt got rid of it.

draconian sanction's ridiculous copout claim aside the saints are Louisiana's team. if you are from Louisiana and rooting against the Louisiana team you are not loyal to the home team. the definition of loyal is giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to a person or institution. he is not giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to the home team therefore he is being disloyal to his home team
Well that's simply your opinion. You're acting like the saints are fighting a world war or something. They are a football team, if someone chooses not to be a fan of them then who cares
And your definition of loyal just proved my point. No random person in louisiana is a part of the saints institution. A person has no actual connection to a football team.
Being disloyal would mean he was a big supporter/fan of the saints then one day jumping ship and going with some other team

Do you consider a top 25 ranked team capable of winning the national title? If you do then by your own standards, UL is a major college team.

fan loyalty, in pro sports, is silly (unless your a Packer fan). You're just a customer to them. The team is made up of a bunch of different guys from a bunch of different parts of the country who would all play for the team you hate the most if they offered them a better contract. It's entertaining, it's fun but it's not important. College sports, while becoming more of a pure business every day, at least is made up of players who chose to attend your school rather than being drafted or bought (usually) and is attached to a place that you likely had a lot of personal experiences with as a student. It's a much more profound relationship. Rooting for LSU is about much more than just football or baseball or whatever it is.

There is only one major college program in Louisiana. That is a fact.

isn't conditional on being a supporter prior. failing to support to someone or something.
