Because he completely mortgaged the future in an attempt to win another Super Bowl. He didnt even get close.
So with trading up and trading away picks on the now while paying too much for favorites like T Hill the Saints are fricked now.
So rather than clean up the mess he made he had to take a year off, then get a better job and a nice raise.
Meanwhile the Saints organization is fricked.
I hope he gets hit by a car.

Sean Payton won 9 playoff games in his career. His win % was 63.1. He took the Saints to the playoffs in 9 different seasons.
Jim Mora’s win % was 53.7. He took the Saints to the playoffs 4 different seasons winning 0 of them. He actually quit on the Saints in mid season.
No other Saints HC is worth mentioning, really. Jim frickin Haslett? No Ty.
Let’s boo the HC who took the franchise to the top. The HC who made grown men cry (and women). “ It’s good. It’s good. Its goooooddd”. Hell has frozen over. Pigs have flown “.

Payton knew he wasn’t winning anything of significance with this roster. He was cheating on the Saints by talking with Miami. He quit on the Saints. Everyone knows the truth about his personal life. frick him ! I hope he gets popped by Goodell again ! frick that pos

This reads like:
“Yeah my wife gave me 16 good years of marriage. Even had a kid in 2009. But she was ready to just move on to someone younger than me and well I can’t be mad at her for that. In fact, I appreciate all she’s done for me and wish her the best!”
