Problem started at least 2 years ago where we collapsed the second half of the season. Eagles playoff game was the rare exception there. We've been riding that bad momentum since.

Veterans that have been cut/not resigned/traded that are starting/playing for other teams: Darren Sproles, Malcolm Jenkins, Curtis Lofton, Ben Grubbs, Kenny Stills, Jimmy Graham, Junior Galette, Roman Harper. I'm sure there might be more. And yes, I get the Galette cut, but some of these other players are still serviceable (some good).
It's not only cutting veterans, it's cutting leadership. With the exception of Curtis Lofton, all the other players look like they could perform just as well if not better than yalls current starters. Just even if yall had kept a few players like Sproles and Jenkins instead of signing Byrd and Spiller, yall could have brought in a big time free agent guard or Maclin instead.
But of course, all these players traded or let go were necessary moves and yall are better off anyways.....

Jenkins was the worst safety in the league when he was here.

I remember when we got Byrd and let go Jenkins I was ecstatic. But it just goes to show some of the bad moves the front office has been making. Jenkins was clearly a leader on this team. What changed from 2013 to 2014 was leadership on D.
That means nothing now though because the difference between 2015 and 2013 and 2014 is talent. We have none.

Right after the 2011 Divisional playoff loss to San Fran-freako.
Trying to remember who it was but the Saints were driving late in the 4th quarter and I believe it was Pierre Thomas was trying to run in for the TD. A 49er player pretty much hit Thomas with a helmet-to-helmet shot, knocking him unconscious and turning the ball over.
Should have been a targeting penalty with the Saints having the ball 1st & goal at the one yard line. I think the Saints could have scored and won that game.
It seemed like that loss to the Freakos in 2011 playoffs started to decline.
Then all the bounty-gate crap orchestrated by that sissy goodell.
Now we have an aging team, ie Brees among others. There are a few players that are in their NFL prime playing days but they are few. Lots of rookies and young inexperienced players.
Sean Payton looked tired or uninterested.
Mickey Loomis has been making some crap decisions. Tom Benson has one foot on a banana peel & the other in the grave.

That was the 1st drive of the game

It was a legal hit.
Also, the Saints scored twice in the last 5 minutes. I want to say SF took the lead with 12s to go

Tracy Porter's interception. It's been all downhill since then.

Not being able to close out the 2013 season with the division was a red flag.
3-5 on the road and 2-3 down the stretch, the signs were all there.
