I mean, has anyone notice any increase in the "distraction factor" that the analysis talk about? Has our offense been less obvious or readable? I think not.

And to clear it up, I don't that our offense is obvious anyway, but I just don't see how he is creating opportunities that we didn't have without him. I think he did this in his first few years, but now teams have him figured to be nothing more that an average joe at running back. Definitely not worth the money he makes.

for frick's sake, not another bash Reggie thread.

Offense is better with him, he's paid too much money for his production, etc. etc.

Think of something original for chrissakes.

He's reverted to his bad ways....

Never seen a pro back who likes to run backwardsways like him

According to the WWL sideline guy (Garrick?), the Ravens D would watch for Reggie on every play and shout his position to each other. So he was definitely having an impact on the game.

Saints lost b/c of shitty run defense, but proceed with the Bush-bashing

1. Every running back has defenders watching him.
2. Watching him doesn't mean that they actually jump or changed formation to his movement.
3. I bet the saints were doing to same thing for Ray Rice, but Ray Rice (as much as I hate that guy) had a good game.

I know:beatdeadhorse:, but your highest paid offensive player is not supposed to be a decoy, period.

Let's get real, does Bush pass the eye test with all of you who support him so.

Be honest with yourselves. Every time he gets the ball you cringe slightly at the thought of what is to come.

Payton can say all the right things in regards to Bush, but the proof is in the pudding. He is not their go to guy and he doesn't trust him in key situations.

very excellent analysis lost on most here on the board... Mayn, Reggie has become a cant get right...

Injured, Running backwardsways, or fumbling... with occasional flashes of brilliance, sigh....

that being said, the guy did almost clean break his tib fib, and he's a "scat" back by nature. Not saying, just saying.

They go to Bush whenever the matchup dictates they need to go him. Against the 49ers, inside the 10 he got matched up Patrick Willis. He ran an arrow route & burned Willis easily for a TD.

They got the same type of match against Dallas inside the 10 but he dropped the pass. That would been another easy TD.

Against Baltimore, he caught a key 15-20 yard pass in the 2 minute drill before halftime. Payton needs to design more plays to get him the ball down the field more.

The Saints offense is designed to spread the ball around so Reggie will never get enough touches to put up these huge numbers that everyone expects him to.

Payton needs to quit with the dumpoffs, swing passes & screens to Reggie. They just don't work & that's mainly because Reggie is always being spied. Also every running back in the league doesn't get spied like Reggie does. Just because he doesn't produce like some people want him to doesn't mean opposing defenses don't gameplan to stop him. Its obvious that the spy defender is being told if Reggie catches the ball contain him & allow the other defenders to swarm to him.

They gameplan to stop him because they don't want him in the open field & they don't want him to have a breakout game against them.

1. Fred jackson, not a good example to use.
2. charles, maybe. He still sees more touches than Reggie sees.

both good examples. they both produce and reggie doesnt. in 2007 and 2008 bush was getting alot of touches, wasnt producing big numbers, and ended up hurt both years.

gee, I wonder why he doesnt get more touches.

well you don't get touches if you're hurt. Even Pierre Thomas would agree with that.

You do realize Jackson has been hurt as well, correct?

Charles is the right example to use.

Even dating to last year, Reggie's touches in just rushing attempts is getting tacked down, and for good reason. It's just not a very healthy comparison imo. Even during Reggie's rookie year,he barely topped the 150 attempt mark.

The best applicable years from a performance standpoint from charles are from 08 and 09. Again, he's the example to use.

I mean you make some pretty good points, but to me it's just easier than what some of y'all are making it out to be.

I understand the need to defend him. His pick in the 2005 draft was one of the most exciting events in the franchise's history up to that point. He ushered in a new era of Saints football. I know in hindsight it was actually the Brees signing that was the key. But I vividly remember thinking we were witnessing the greatest day in Saints history when Bush was drafted. Nobody knew what Brees was to become.

Back to reality. Please answer my question about him passing the "eye" test with you and others who defend him. Do you think Payton trusts him completely? Maybe I just expect too much out of the 2nd pick in the draft.
