well it changed after tonight, thats why it isn't right
Philly over Cleveland wasn't right, even before the game tonight.
That win by Carolina did make things a little tougher. They had a shot to pass Carolina if they had lost tonight.

he wanted Philly to knock off all the teams in front of us and didn't think they would do that if they lost to the Browns

Also, in regards to the Falcons:
1.) If they lose to Tampa, the Saints own the tiebreaker (Division record).
2.) If they beat Tampa, then they have to lose to Minnesota. If they win both, the Saints can't catch them because the Falcons would have the "Common Opponent" tie-breaker.
3.) If Atlanta beats Tampa, loses @ Minnesota and beats St Louis, then the Saints will have to win by a total margin of victory of 13 pts greater than Atlanta's total MOV over the last three games.

I get that, but they can still knock off the other teams in contention whether they beat the Browns or not. Any given Sunday and all that...
Not knocking the guy, he's actually on except for that particular game.

I appreciate everybody's feedback but obviously things changed after Carolina won tonight.
We obviously do root for Cleveland over Philly now. My scenario was based on there being 2 wild card slots open and us passing Carolina.

Alejandro, I wonder if we should e-mail Coach Peyton to make sure that he is aware that he needs to run up the score if possible over the last three weeks. Unless I'm mistaken, there's a realistic chance that the tie-breaker between the Saints and Falcons could come down to that. Hopefully Tampa will take them out this week and we won't have to worry about it.

I scanned the situation and it is my belief that the Saints best chance to make the playoffs is alongside 2 other NFC South teams. I might be stating the obvious but I see our only chance as the other wildcard to TB. So IMO we need Carolina and TB to win out with the obvious exception of our game against the Panthers. My big question is if we end up tied with the Falcons then who gets the tiebreaker? We could likely end up tied with similar division and conference records, as well as head to head.
