There is no way Gruden goes anywhere for an assistants job. IMO

I would love this but I agree no way he takes any assistant jobs

He's going to be the next John Madden. I expect him to do well as a color analysis on MNF.
He loves football; just not everything that goes with it.

Payton already had to give up $250k of his own salary to get GW on board. There isn't any money left for a consultant even if Gruden were interested.

I like Gruden, but unfortunately his players don't. They were ripping him to shreds when he was fired, saying that he isn't a man, lies to them and treats them like shite. I was surprised to hear that when the stories were coming out, but they would know, not me. Yes, I am well aware that they could just be bitter and hyping it up, but you don't hear that very often when a coach gets fired.
If this is true, then I don't want him anywhere near my Saints. I believe in a firm disciplinarian, but he must be an honorable, honest coach that has the respect of his players, i.e. Bill Parcells and Bill Cowher.

I like Gruden, but where would he fit in? The O belongs to SP and even if he wanted to help on D, we already have GW and it's his defense.

Gruden doesn't have any defensive background other than being the head coach of the TB bucs with Monte Kiffen's defense. He was a quarterback in college, a QB coach, a WR coach, and an offensive coordinator. He was a student of Bill Walsh's west coast offense. I seriously doubt he will ever take an assistant job, but if he did then Saints OC would be perfect as long as he would let SP do all the play calling. He could be there to fire up the players and collect a paycheck.
