There was plenty of optimism in 2021 when the torch passed to Jameis. Coming off several playoff runs the Saints were still living in win now mode. Many even believed Brees was somewhat holding us back due to his physical limitations. Jameis was a bit of a wild card but we were willing to take a chance on someone that earned a fresh start.

Sean’s machine was rolling per usual to begin 2021. 5-2 before the Jameis injury. The huge problem with the Jameis injury is we were still so unsure if he had what it took. I vividly remember us on the road vs Washington. It was so obvious we were in a different league than them. Jameis threw for for 279 yards and 4 TDs. Not bad right? But with that he also went just 15/30 for 50% completion percentage. I remember thinking how awful some of his incompletions were. I really think if Jameis stays healthy we would’ve realized how bad he is and maybe tried something different. Maybe Mickey lets Sean draft a qb and he never “retires”.

Fast forward to 2022. Sean leaves, DA takes over and we decide to usher out the Winston/Dalton bandaid show. Although this was the first year in a very long time I had little to no optimism, I was excited for a new coach and I understood this would be a transition period. I knew the immediate chance of us making a playoff run was probably over. Finished 7-10, not a big surprise to anyone.

Heading for 23’, It’s time for us to take our shot in the draft right? Maybe get control of the roster and cap issues. Cut ties with cancers like MT and build a winning culture again. And We just went through half a dozen journeyman quarterbacks, it’s time to draw your ticket and hope it works out, right? I mean I guess if you don’t like your options in the draft, we could get a baker or someone on a *prove it deal* and hope to be draft someone the next year. We are no longer in win now mode right? It didn’t have to be a “burn it down” situation. We just needed a light reset. Whatever you do Mickey, please don’t dump $150 million into a sub .500 qb that has never won a playoff game. That’s the only trap you need to avoid. He would never do that right? WRONG!! Mickey does what he wants, the who dats will eat whatever BS he feeds them. “He’s better than Jameis and Dalton”, “He was like 4th in the mvp race that one time”, “The division is winnable”. No you idiot we are not in win now mode anymore and even if we were Carr just got fired, why are you giving him all these years and guaranteed money? No one else wants him!!!

Welp. Carr shite the bed as expected last year. Now he’s hurt, the locker room is old and defeated, and we are in purgatory until we burn it all the way down. I almost feel bad for Allen, he’s the fall guy in all of this. Him and Pete were great contributors to the organization who should’ve never been promoted in the first place. You can tell neither of them really wanted it. Best wishes to them in Denver.

Tldr: Dear diary, my recollection of how Mickey systematically fricked the saints

You don’t think Allen wanted to be head coach again lol?

Obviously a part of him wanted it. But you can tell from his demeanor it’s too much pressure for him. At least that’s what I see, he looks worn out. Sean looks cool as a cucumber like he could handle the job with his eyes closed.
