I agree it's more of a player issue. We may have to run more clock on offense. Our best defense is our offense.

Did we win this weekend or not?

The Redskins obviously won the game last Sunday but they won in the film room & in their offensive game planning.

If that was the case, we should have been able to slow it down in the second half with some half time adjustments.

The defense made stops in the second half when they didn't in the first half. They would have had another stop if P-Rob would have gotten off the field on fourth down which ended up leading to 3 points. Also Brees' int set up the Skins for an easy touchdown from the Saints 3. That's 10 points given up that were not caused by mistakes from the defense. Without those two errors, the defense gives up 10 points in second half which is respectable.

The problem with what you just mentioned is that even if our OLB's and DE's play conservative not rushing up field to maintain the edge we are playing against Cam who offers some similar problems bouncing a run outside, and their RB's have gashed us with cutback and off tackle runs towards the sideline each game we face them.

You obviously missed the point about breaking down film in order for game planning & preparation. The difference between what the last week's & this upcoming game against Carolina is that there is film of what the Carolina does offensively while there was no film of Mike Shanahan's offenses EVER using the aspect of the read option in his scheme.

Without being prepared, it was obvious that some of our defensive players were reacting incorrectly to things they weren't expecting to see.

As with any game, Carolina will show a few offensive plays this Sunday where they will add wrinkles in hopes of catching the defensive off guard with something they did not see yet on film. This happens every week in the NFL but not to the extent of what the Saints experienced last Sunday.
