You're kind of the guilty party for saying that is what she reported. The Saints offered Hunt and Barr and scheduled a workout. The expectation was that they sign them if the workout and specifically the physical goes well. What is a good way to say that with the constraints of the twitter character limit?

The New Orleans Saints are expected to sign both Kareem Hunt and Anthony Barr, if both players pass their physicals and are in shape, per sources.

You doom and gloomers always acting as if the Saints are incompetent when you don’t use any logic in evaluating moves is exhausting

All those are better RBs than Hunt at this point.

I don’t know man. Hunt has been really successful. He was on a team without a qb for most of last year and that was the only subpar year of his career. He’s traditionally been a much more efficient player than Williams and they’ve been in the league the same amount of time.

This board seems to massively overate Williams for some reason. He’s a great personality but has been under 4 ypc for most of his career. He’s not overly dynamic at all.

You’re talking past tense. I don’t care what either one of them did in 2017. It’s only about what they’re projected to do in 2023. And what they did in ‘22 is a better predictor of that than what they did in ‘21 and before. I won’t argue with you that Hunt’s had the better career. Just that that may matter less for RBs than any other position in team sports. They fall off cliffs quickly.

Regardless, I’m not even gonna argue with you that Williams is better than Hunt in a vacuum. But we needed a different kind of back than AK to be the thunder to his lightning. Once AK is back, Hunt would be redundant. Their skill sets are too similar, and we needed a guy who can run the ball 15 times a game between the tackles to take advantage of what AK does best.

Also, I’m really high on Miller and think he’s probably gonna be the best of the 4 mentioned in this thread as a pure runner of the football.

Finally, even if you’re right and we should have signed Hunt over Williams. The fact is we didn’t, so that’s moot. We invested in Willams and Miller. And we’d already invested in AK and Taysom. Disagree with any or all of those investments, they guarantee all 4 a roster spot. And unless we thought we’d be getting Hunt of ‘17/‘18, I don’t see how he would provide enough to warrant being a part of that 53 after Kamara gets back. Those roster spots are precious.

And I’m just putting all my pent up thoughts on this in 1 post. I certainly don’t mean to start a big argument or for this to come off as any sort of attack. We don’t even disagree too much really. I’m not dying on the Williams is better than Hunt hill.

No worries man.

I like miller as well. I actually posted the same regarding it didn’t make sense to have all 4 when it looked like we were going to get him. I think my biggest issue was always signing Williams. Just seems like a plodder to me who offers nothing really dynamic or special in any way. I know this is saints talk so 5 yats will downvote this for not liking a signing, but hopefully he brings some leadership to make the investment worth it. I suppose we couldn’t sign 2 rookies to group with Kamara though.

Kareem Hunt is leaving Indianapolis without a deal, per source. Offer was made by the Colts. Unable to reach an agreement. Continued interest from other teams.
