Roman Harper is the worst possible fit for a Rob Ryan defense, he isnt a bad player, but in this scheme, u need a lockdown man coverage SS. Great Pick by us!
I disagree, he's actually a pretty damn good fit for it, like he was for Gregg Williams' scheme. Ryan plays his strong safety around the line of scrimmage like you used to see in the 46 his daddy ran. This plays up to Harper's only strengths.
Vacarro is an attractive option, though, because he's not a one dimensional player. He's going to be able to do that, and then get moved into the nickel, and then get moved to free safety to play single high, depending on the front.

But assuming the SS has to man up on the tight end streaking down the field, I don't see how Roman fits on passing downs.

I think all 3 safeties will be on the field at the same time a lot next season so they'll be able to match it up accordingly.
I'm not complaining about this pick at all, I like it and it's beneficial to the scheme. Ryan needs strong play from his DBs and he loves to disguise his coverages, blitz packages, etc, and a guy like Vacarro that can do all of that will be a BIG help.

Not only did Lacy have an 82, but Vaccaro has an 87.7 to Jones' 88.8
Man, did we frick up and pass on a superstar talent and settle for a mediocre scrub.

Holy shite. People are trying their hardest to shite all over this pick.
EJ Manuel made more big plays than Vacarro. We should have taken him!!!
