Tyler Shough Advanced Passing Metrics
I posted this as a comment on todays NOF article but wanted to get more eyes on it.

I believe Completed Air Yards per Attempt (CAY/Att) along with completion percentage is the most solid simple mark to determine which QB’s are playing at a high level.

The CAY/Att number alone is good but can be manipulated a bit by a high volume of down field throws. Which is why i believe simple Completion % should be considered along side it. These together tell you which guys are pushing the ball down field while staying on task and taking what the defense is giving.

Here is where Shough stands as of 12/15 per PFR
- Comp %: 66.7% ranks 11/32
- CAY/PA: 4.2 ranks 9/32
- Pocket time: 1.9s ranks 1/32

Only 3 players w higher cay/pa and higher comp %
- Maye
- Darnold
- Jones

Players w higher cay/pa and a top half of league comp %
- Maye
- Darnold
- Jones
- Stafford
- Hurts
- Love

Elite company but on top of that have to remember
- All of these teams are top of the league talented rosters
- Shough has the lowest pocket time of all QB's @ 1.9s
- Only 1 player on this list has a higher pressure % (Drake Maye)
- Tyler Shough has the highest WR drop % of anyone on this list
- Saints are a bottom 5 rushing offense
