QUESTION: What happens to the pay Sean is forgoing this season? Does Goodell collect it? Or does the Saints org keep it with the freedom to hire an interim HC?

He's going to have to switch from Kodiak to Longhorn for the next 12 months.

I hope Payton sues the f**k out of the NFL and Goodell... I hope it opens up Antitrust suits from every direction and the owners fire Goodell's arse. Dissolve this league!

The amount is irrelevant. If I lied at my work, I would be terminated immediately and I would probably have a hard time finding work. What is the difference?

how so?

For one, he has acknowledged that other teams have run similar bounty programs (although maybe not as over the top as ours) and yet no other teams are being investigated.

So does that mean that Goodell should be reprimanded for being an enormous hypocrite?

by whom would he be reprimanded?

How about the other 31 other owners that Goodell works for? They should take a stand against this egregious punishment because it might happen to them one day with this clown in charge.

They have an association, not a union.

Negative. Well, they have the coaches association, but it's very different from a union. Basically, Sean is on his own.

no, it isnt.

they have the power to sue, which i'm sure will be exercised here.

Who is "they?" A group of a few coaches? You don't even have to be in the coaches association if you dont want to. "they" don't represent the coaches in any sort of collective bargaining.

There's debate on whether or not the NFL would even allow the coaches to form a union if they wanted to, since they could be considered management.

I'm not trying to say Sean is hopeless, or that there won't be a lawsuit. Im just saying it will be filed by his own, personal attorney. And that probably makes him better off, honestly.

you're not nearly as valuable as Sean Payton in the market, for one

So it's more acceptable for Payton to lie, because he's paid more? You didn't happen to be representing Allen Stanford did you?
