He just opted out and is a guy I think could at minimum be our first guy off the bench for any guard or tackle spot and work to develop into a starter if we have to move on from a current starter

He just opted out of playing his first contract in the NFL in order to "protect his millions"...smart man.

The people on this board are so enamored with our line play, they can’t grasp the fact that we have to move on from an aging Armstead to pay for the stud that is Ramcyzk. OT will be our first pick. Take it to the bank.

Yeah you can bet that loomis, hen he handed out that massive contract to project Peat, had an out for next year where he wont take a huge cap hit

and we do draft another flex player tackle guard combo Type player or a premiere LT that drops

Drafting OL in the first round every year is probably as good or better than any other draft strategy you could come up with

It isn’t his age. It is his injury history that is the problem. He will be looking to get top tackle money and his play would justify that. The problem is that he can’t make a full season

He hasn’t been hurt the last 2 seasons so I think the narrative on Armstead is a little misleading. He’s also signed through next year too so the Saints have a bargaining chip if they want to use it. If they feel like he’s got another 3-4 years they could negotiate an extension this offseason that would add 2-3 years his current deal and that would bring his $16 mil cap hit for next year down while also giving Armstead some added security by knowing he’s locked in for another few years without the risk of getting hurt next year. I don’t think the Saints have any plans to move on from a top 5 LT. Elite OL are hard to find and when you have 2 of them at offensive tackle you don’t mess with that.

He was out for a couple games last year with an high ankle sprain then banged up his wrist in the playoffs. All in all it was a healthier year for him though. He missed several games every year prior to last year. I’m not opposed to signing him though but can see us letting him walk especially if Brees retires which he probably will

Huh? He’s missed multiple games each year due to injury. He only played 7 games in 2016, 10 in 2017 & 2018 and 15 games last year, and that includes playoffs. And he missed this last game with Covid.

I like Armstead and he’s a great player and seems like a good guy. But he misses several games and goes out a lot because of injuries.

I like the pic if available. But likely won’t. Time to move on from Armstead.
