Don't know a thing about him to be honest.

I'm guessing this is strictly looking for more OLine depth since we are still pretty thin.

From Rotoworld:

Ravens declined RT Austin Howard's 2018 option.
The move was expected after Baltimore re-signed James Hurst on Monday. It saves the Ravens $3 million against the cap. Mostly fine across 16 starts last season, Howard should quickly find another home. He turns 31 later this month. Mar 13 - 10:19 AM

Would be nice to get both him and Meredith.

Really opens up what we can do in the first 4 rounds.

He's actually the best OT available in free agency.

That would put a 4th veteran lineman who only plays tackle (Armstead, Ramczyk, Bushrod).

I hope he can play guard. There is no interior depth whatsoever.

But maybe this keeps Bryce Harris off the roster next year.

Bushrod does not play only tackle. He played guard for the dolphins for the last 2 seasons

Bushrod played some guard with the Dolphins. He wasn’t great, but all of these depth signings are going to have to be versatile

Bushrod was moved to guard (26 game starter at guard with Mia over two years) and may only be able to play RT these days if need be. He was barely a serviceable LT when he left here years ago.

He was the interior depth. We desparately need a backup tackle so we don't have to keep swinging Peat out everytime Armstead goes down.

I really hope we can sign Austin Howard. I'm assuming he's going to cost somewhere in the 2-3 mil a year range. I'd be more than cool with that.

We have our 5 starters.
Howard - backup OT
Bushrod - backup OG
Tom - backup OC

We would just need to draft an OC/OG prospect & we're completely set.

Backup tackle was a priority for me. If we can keep Peat at guard it makes such a huge difference for our run game.

Yep. Kelemete did a great job filling in for Peat at LG (when Peat had to slide over to LT). Kelemete more than held his own in pass protection, but his run blocking isn't anywhere near the level of Peat.

It would be nice if we could keep Peat at LG if & when Armstead gets injured.

He'd be a good pick-up. Not so much to be a starter, but step in if needed....quality depth.

-Sign Howard
-Bears don't match Meredith
-Draft Billy Price 1st round, WR 3rd round

I really do not think we need to draft another OL in the first round this year.

Pass Rusher, TE, WR make a lot more sense. I mean you can never have enough OL but I'm not sure it makes sense this year.

BPA. Can't lock in.

Not saying Price will be BPA, but if an OL is clearly BPA you take him.

Armstead is expensive and always hurt. It may be time to replace him if an OT is BPA.

Don't forget Snead. Chances are he plays here for 1.9 mil in 2018. Doesn't look like another team wants to sign him to an offer sheet.

I do agree that Meredith & Howard are the 2 most important guys left in free agency for us.

BPA doesn't mean what fans think it means (and you know this).

They will generally be choosing from a pod of players that are ranked similarly. So then they will take need, personality, etc into account. So unless the OL is just that much better than everyone else, I wouldn't think they will go OL that early.

I'd be fine with it, but it seems pretty low on the list of priorities at this point.

I understand why you'd say that, but at the moment we're 1 injury from a disaster on the interior IMO. I don't trust Bushrod as far as I can throw him.

It's a futures move, but if you take Price knowing he can backup both G spots and C in 2018, and then you can part with a 32 year old Unger next offseason and save $7 million on the cap with little dead money.

To me that's a no brainer, but I obviously am fine with taking the best player we can find. I would just be nervous going into the season with no additional interior guys.
