Solid B so far.
I like both players, and I like where we got them. I just question the wisdom of taking Peat, who definitely needs development, when we have 2 good tackles and only a couple more years of really good Brees.

It's not like the team needs a trading partner or anything. It's takes two teams to make a trade. Another team isn't just going to trade up just to do so. There would have had to be another player that some team wanted to trade up for which obviously wasn't the case tonight.
When was the last time the Saints traded back??
I'm assuming your reasoning is because there has NEVER been a partner team...

If you look at the details of Strief's contract, I doubt he is on the team past this year when those roster bonuses start kicking in...definitely no later than 2016. Armstead and Peat will be the OTs of the future

You're such a frickin idiot and it's sad that you don't know it. I wish you knew you were an idiot. Then you could fix your idiotness. Your idiot state of mind will prevent that though. DIAF.

Most informative post in this thread.
I'm all for planning for the future.
If the FO doesn't think Strief will be on the team next year this makes a little more sense, but to me, we could have drafted another tackle later in the draft to develop for a year.
I remember SP saying they were going after players in the draft that can make an immediate impact. If Strief is on the roster week 1, I don't think that happens.

Not sure how you rate anything other than A.

Seems like Saints went in blind to this draft (like they have in the past) and were set from the beginning at picking PEAT at 13 and Anthony at 31.
1) Trade down a couple spots, get a extra 3 or 4, and still select PEAT
2)M Brown DT highest rated player at 31 (NE jumped on him pick later), take Brown and one of the MIDDLE LB will still be there in 2nd:
Anthony, McKinney, Kendricks, Perryman ....???
Anthony was widely considered a mid 2nd round pick
How much better would our MLB be if we had Brown in front of him????????

This. Exactly this.
That isn't how the draft unfolded this year. What prospects were on the board at 13 that any team would have wanted to pay to grab? The offers to trade back were probably for low value, Plus to get a 2nd rounder would have required jumping back to the bottom of the 1st round. To get a 3rd rounder would have needed to drop in the 5-10 spots and definitely would not have gotten Peat.

To your points:
1. How many trades were there last night? Fact of the matter is a lot of teams knew who they wanted, the draft played out the way they wanted and they go who they wanted. There were hardly any curveballs out there. So STOP SAYING WE COULD HAVE TRADED DOWN
2. Maybe, just maybe, Rob Ryan wanted Anthony over the other MLB, realized he may not have been there come our pick today and wanted to be sure to get the guy that he thinks has the best shot at shoring up a weak LB position for us.
Our MLB would be just as good with the DL we have now than if they added Brown and got a lesser MLB in the eyes of Ryan

last night would've given it a B, but after reading evals from real NFL Draft Analysts, they say Peat is soft and inconsistent. So, the Saints drafted a Strief clone to replace Strief. C-

For all those "it takes two teams to trade folks"...
San Diego moved up to take Melvin Gordon and they were behind us. It would have only been a 3 spot jump.
I really don't think we shopped the pick at all

You're such a moron. It's not like the chargers didnt trade down right after us. We could have easily dropped 5 spots minimum, scoring us another 4th-5th round pick and still could have easily addressed our needs. That ilb we drafted could have been obtained with our second round pick easy... not a bad pick or player but it was a reach at 31. Get your head out of your arse and wake the frick up jackass.
Breesus quit pretending like you have all the answers and any other opinion outside of yours is automatically considered dumb. Some of the shite you say is highly unintelligent and has no facts to back up any of your points.

We drafted Johnathan Martin.
I doubt he's gonna put fear in anybody.
