Damon Amendolara is hyped up over this Saints team and makes some good observations. We just might be the real deal. LINK

I like it, but I think he’s underselling what Brees is doing.
Even if he doesn’t throw the ball he’s still very much involved in the play especially persnap, not to mention audibling to a run play when he sees a favorable look.

Brees is not having to throw the ball 45x a game and put the team on his back. I think he is more pointing out the emphasis and success of the running game. He mentions they don't need Brees to do anything but they have him. They are a different looking offense but it is great to have a HOF QB even when you don't need him as much.

This clip from the NFL network mentions Brees as an older QB not having to wear his arm out carrying the team and some other good points. I personally think it's to his advantage to save the wear and tear on his arm and shoulder

He takes what the opposing defense gives him, if they give him a thanksgiving dinner but allowing the run he eats. If they give him beanie weenies in the run game, he can still take your thanksgiving dinner with his arm.
