I can agree with that, though he can carry most TEs in man to the safety help (and some HBs).

He's pretty good at the "hook" zones where he only needs to make one or two reads and react. When he starts playing deeper zones with more reads he thinks too much instead of just playing.

I have seen on here and on some mock drafts where they say we need to draft a safety.

I think you shore up your pass rush first. I think one of the reasons Byrd wasn't as effective with the Saints is because in each year, the pass rush just wasn't that good.

i said it in another thread but I feel like if he had been with the Saints in 2013, he could have had a Pro Bowl season. The Saints had 2 players record double digit sacks that year and the team total was 49.

since then:

2014- 34
2015- 30
2016- 30

that's just not gonna cut it. Yeah, there is more to it than that. Byrd was hurt some and didn't even play much his first year and his tackling was pathetic at times but at times last year it finally looked like he was coming along (in coverage) anyway.

Bell seemed like he would be in position at times to make plays last year but did not.

Other times you wondered what was going on but I guess you could say the same for all of the other players in the secondary too.

I'd say pick a safety if the value is there. Safeties are just as valuable as corners depending on their skill set I guess.
