What caused this game to be a loss in your opinion? Asides from the poor missed calls, what else caused this?
In my opinion, going for a field goal after picking off Goff in the red zone was a bad omen.
Personnel wise, brees was missing a legitimate second wide receiver. Ted Ginn is good, but he’s not a legitimate number 2. The other personnel issue was the lack of pressure on Goff by our defense. Without Sheldon rankins, we just couldn’t get to him.
I am sure that a lot of you will disagree with me, and that’s ok. I’m just looking for some insight as to why you all think we lost.

One reason....

The refs plain and simple. I don’t care about what happened before that play.

That penalty is called. Game over.

Just the missed call

You people with this argument baffle me. Sure, would have been nice to be up by 50, but we werent and we did what we needed to do to be in a position to win the game at the very end. This wasnt some bullshite Browns team we were playing. This was a good team and it was going to be a tough win. The opportunity was taken away by the refs.

We did enough to win. It was stolen.

-not taking advantage of red zone opportunities
-fake punt
-defense before half
-poor clock management at end of regulation
-turnover in OT
-and obviously the horrible call

It certainly doesn’t excuse the egregious call, but IMO the Saints should have run the ball 3 times at the end and left the Rams with under a minute and no timeouts.

Missed opportunities by the offense in the first and 4th quarters to put up more points. They did not convert. Came back to bite them in the butt.

Im perfectly chilled out. Your question was "what caused this game to be a loss".

Nothing else "caused this game to be a loss the". The refs did that. The Saints did everything they needed to to "cause it to be a win".

I think youre question should have been "What more could we have done to prevent being in that situation" or something along those lines if you wanted to talk about places where improvements could have been made.

Throwing an incomplete pass, much less 2 incomplete passes, in that situation with under 2 minutes to play, was not good clock management.

I mean If you disagree with that, fine, agree to disagree, cause I don’t know what to tell you. It just is.
