Kenny Phillips was not on game one roster to save cap money as after game one he could be resigned an not have his money owed him if say he was cut after say game 5.So when Rafael Bush was hurt they had Jamarca Sanford in the game an he made zero plays.Who knows if a former 1st round pick like Phillips might have made a few plays to turn the game.saints short of depth because of having league fewest draft picks the past 6 years.

That was not the case with Phillips. He was cut before the week of practice and was only brought back because of injury. If anything they would have cut Sanford because iirc he makes more money.
That was the case for Hightower and McGlynn though as they practiced all week and got cut the day before the game to both lessen the likelihood no one else would pick them up and give them a full week of practice.
But I didn't think they'd bring Hightower back with Ingram, Robinson, and Murphy healthy but judging by Murphy's zero offensive snaps they don't feel he's ready to play offense yet. I do think when Spiller gets healthy Hightower will be gone. But maybe not because Payton seems to have a stiffy for him.

Picking up where we left off last year. At this rate, we can expect a season ending injury during week 3 or 4.

Sucks for Bush but Sanford has played better.
