Was this the one where our old kicker Doug Brian (or something like that) missed that FG and if he makes it we are in the playoffs? And he missed a 47 yarder short...

Nah. We were 4-8 and won out, but the one combination of 8-8 teams where we lost the tiebreaker was the one that happened.

No, I mean he was kicking for the Jets. For some reason I recall watching a obscure Jets game that day.
Just checked, the Rams were also 8/8 and made the playoffs. They beat the Jets in the last game in OT.

Yea there was a year Doug brien missing a kick for the jets cost us a playoff game. It was a chip shot. Can’t remember what year.

Ah, I forgot that detail.
2003 was, of course, missing an extra point back when they were automatic but we ended up not getting the other games anyway.
2002 was the meltdown from 9-4.
